Most cannabis strains are technically hybrids of sorts (indica dominant, sativa dominant or hybrid) after multiple generations of crossbreeding and it’s fairly rare to find pure indica or sativa strains. Although understanding the genetic lineage of cannabis strains can be helpful, it’s also necessary to look at the cannabinoid and terpene profiles of each strain; this is the best indicator as to its medicinal application for individuals.

Indicas generally provides more of a sense of deep body relaxation. Indica strains are more often associated with bodily sensations or alleviating body pain, and are usually recommended for nighttime use.

Sativa cannabis strains usually provide more of an energizing experience. Most sativa strains are often associated with more of a cerebral sensation, sparking creativity or focus. Cannabis strains of the sativa variety are typically more uplifting and euphoric, and so they are often recommended for daytime use.
